Turn Blog Posts and Newsletters Into a Book

A book made from a blog or newsletter needs a clear reader promise and an order that builds. DraftZero can bring existing articles into a review list; this guide covers the editorial work that turns those separate pieces into a coherent manuscript.

1. Choose one reader promise

Write one sentence describing who the book is for and what it helps them do. As a planning example: “Help a first-time newsletter writer choose a topic and send their first issue.” This is a hypothetical book plan, not a customer success story. Keep only posts that help fulfill that promise.

There is no universal minimum word count for an ebook. Choose scope by usefulness and completeness; check the separate page-count requirements for your intended print format.

2. Import the articles you need

Use public article URLs, HTML or Markdown exports, WordPress XML, document DOCX, newsletter EML or caption files. The import guide lists methods and limits for each platform. Account connections, paywall bypass and subscriber migration are not included.

Open each imported item's text and warnings. Keep original URLs when available, and check that the full body is present. Feed exports may contain only excerpts.

3. Arrange a reading journey

Try an order such as context, basics, practice, common mistakes and next actions. Memoirs may work better in chronological order. In the formatter's review list, select articles and move them up/down or sort by date before appending them as chapters.

4. Remove repetition while keeping your voice

Exact duplicate bodies are unchecked in the review list. Similar passages still need your judgment. Repeated introductions, subscription prompts and “last week” references often need editing. Keep the experiences and phrasing that make readers recognize you.

Add an introduction, transitions and a conclusion where the selected posts leave gaps. Optional AI expansion is a separate action after saving; basic import and conversion do not rewrite the body with AI.

5. Check links and images in book form

Web embeds become static quotations or original links. Videos do not play inside the generated PDF. Remote images may be unavailable, and DOCX/EML/ZIP attachments need separate image preparation. Review the exported files rather than assuming the website layout was copied.

6. Export and choose how to publish

Choose a book title and trim size, inspect the table of contents, then export EPUB and a horizontal PDF. Read the EPUB in a reader or Kindle Previewer. Inspect PDF margins, page breaks and image quality at the chosen size. Order or print a proof before distributing a paperback.

Can I use Substack, Medium or Notion?

Will the import change my existing manuscript?

Reading a file or URL adds items to the review list. Only selected items are appended when you choose to add them. Existing manuscript text stays in place, and the last import can be undone.

Do I need to rewrite everything?

No. Edit the parts that assume a web context or repeat material, and add the transitions your reader needs. Basic conversion does not require AI rewriting.
