Bring existing articles, newsletters, documents, social posts and captions into a book manuscript. This guide describes the import methods implemented in DraftZero, the review workflow and the elements that need manual preparation.

Reviewed October 4, 2026 by the DraftZero editorial team. Basic import and EPUB/PDF conversion are free without signup. The body is not rewritten with AI.

Start with writing you already own. Imported items enter a review list. Your manuscript changes only when you add selected items.

Review, select and order before adding

  1. Read an article URL or choose files. Select up to 30 files at once.
  2. Open each item's text and warnings. Compare with the original link when available.
  3. Exact duplicate bodies are unchecked. Choose the items you need, then move them up/down or sort oldest first.
  4. Add selected items to the end of your manuscript. Existing text stays in place; the last import can be undone.
  5. Set the book title and trim size, inspect the table of contents and body, then export EPUB or PDF.

Articles normally become one chapter each. Word, Markdown and text manuscripts with title or chapter headings can keep their existing structure. Use the heading checkbox in the review list to choose. For choosing a book promise, adding transitions and editing repeated introductions, see turning a blog or newsletter into a book.

Try an example first

These synthetic examples were created by the DraftZero editorial team for verification. They are not customer manuscripts or publication success stories. Save a file and select it in the formatter to try the review workflow.

What survives conversion

HTML headings, emphasis, links, public image URLs, quotes and lists are converted into book markup. Audio and video embeds become original playback links. Embedded X posts become static quotations with their original links. Interactive pages are not preserved as playable widgets or screenshots.

Remote images may fail to download. Local images, email attachments, DOCX images and images inside ZIP files need separate preparation. Inspect the exported EPUB/PDF for missing assets and layout problems.

Limits: 900KB per file, 4MB total expanded ZIP content, 200 items and 500,000 characters in the review list. Export also has a request-size limit. Split large archives into batches or separate books. The review list lives in this tab's memory and disappears on reload.

Your manuscript and privacy

Files are processed on our server without saving their body to the database. Import does not connect email/social accounts or migrate subscribers. Saving a book through the publication pack is a separate, paid action.

Choose your own work or material you can publish. Check quotations, images and personal stories in the final manuscript. For publication choices, see the KDP setup guide and paperback workflow.

Questions

What if a URL cannot be imported?

Paste the article body with formatting, or upload article exports. The tool does not bypass login or paywalls.

Does AI rewrite the articles?

No. Basic import and conversion keep the body without AI rewriting. Headings and embeds are normalized for a book, so compare the imported result with your source. Optional expansion is a separate action after saving.

Can I import multiple newsletters?

Yes. Select multiple EML or article files, inspect the bodies and arrange them in the review list. Attached images and email-only links need review.
