Disclosure and method: This comparison is published by DraftZero. We checked Sudowrite’s official feature documentation on October 4, 2026 and verified our own import and export implementation. We have not run a paid, hands-on quality or speed comparison of the two services.
What Sudowrite offers
Its Story Bible organizes characters, worldbuilding, outlines and scenes to guide fiction drafting. Canvas provides a visual space for rearranging notes and outlines. If you want an ongoing AI writing partner while you develop and revise a manuscript, examine those workflows first. We have not verified every current publishing format, language or plan limit, so we do not label an undocumented capability as missing. Check the provider’s current pricing and export requirements before paying.
What DraftZero offers for existing content
The free manuscript formatter imports public article URLs or files, lets you select and order the material, and creates an EPUB or horizontal print PDF. It does not rewrite the body with AI. No account or payment is required for basic conversion.
- Bring your material: TXT, Markdown, HTML and DOCX; supported article exports include WordPress XML/RSS, EML bodies, Ghost JSON, X tweets.js and SRT/VTT captions. ZIP supports article HTML, Markdown or text with local raster images.
- Keep editorial control: Review before adding content, undo the last import, edit the manuscript, and download a backup containing your text and settings. Temporary tab storage is optional and lasts up to one hour after the last save.
- Check the output: Chapter order, links and embedded images need review in the actual EPUB/PDF. The preview’s page estimate is not the final PDF page count.
These are bounded imports, not account synchronization: 900KB per source file, 4MB expanded ZIP content, and a total 256KB normalized raster-image budget per archive. Private or blocked articles need a permitted export or pasted body. Table layout, footnotes, email attachments and SVG need separate preparation. See the source-by-source import guide and examples.

Run a small check before committing a whole book
- Choose two articles or a short document you have permission to use.
- Import them and compare the manuscript against the originals, including links, images and headings.
- Download EPUB/PDF and open them in a reader or preview tool.
- Decide whether you need AI drafting, additional editing, a cover or a paid publishing pack.
Preparing files does not guarantee acceptance or sales. A paperback needs an interior and a full cover matched to the actual trim size and page count. Follow KDP’s official paperback formatting instructions and check the final files in its preview tools.
